Raised garden beds 8′ x 4′ are available to Lakewood residents at the Lakewood Community Garden. Located just off 112th Street in back of the Lakewood Baptist Church, a raised bed can be rented for the entire year for just $20. Tools for working in the raised bed are available along with the cost of watering the bed is also included. Registering for a garden plot can be done at the information desk on the first floor of Lakewood City Hall.
To welcome gardeners, a new gate has been added to the Lakewood Community Garden. Through a grant obtained by the Kiwanis Club of Clover Park, a three bin composting system and concrete block storage bins to hold materials prior to composting have been added. Planter boxes for flowers will be constructed to attract bees and other beneficial insects. The City of Lakewood will also be adding a picnic table to sit and enjoy the garden views.
