Some folks collect matchbooks; some collect vintage cars or boats, while others collect…well, you get the idea.

If rock collecting turns you on, one Lakewood resident has a deal you can’t refuse. He has three to four tons of rocks in his backyard, and he’s parting company with this exotic, geologic assortment in a three-day-only yard sale.

This coming weekend, Aug. 29, 30 and 31, John Huber is offering his 30+ year Rock Collection. Gemologists, geologists and other rock hounds are welcome to select pieces from this extensive collection for their own.

“Back in the 80s in Louisiana is when my collection began,” said Huber. “It continued until a few years ago; now I’m ready to part company with it.”

Besides jade, jasper, and agate, there also are chunks of Rainbow Obsidian from Davis Creek, CA, Arizona petrified wood, and large amounts of Montana Agate. There’s also a selection of Hampton Butte petrified wood and Carnelian Agate. Plenty of rock slabs, too.

This Lakewood rock hound’s hard rock sale includes lapidary equipment and supplies, shelving, and work benches. The collection includes specimens from renowned Puyallup rock collector Maurice Pratt.

Huber’s inventory of American rocks is arranged by lot, weight, pound, even individual pieces—ideal for small rock garden projects.

This unique “backyard” event takes place between 9 and 5 at 11012 Interlaaken Dr. SW in Lakewood. Phone 253-312-1770 for more information.

Stop by and select from among John’s unique rock inventory.
