Lakewood, Wash. – In honor of Lakewold’s 25th anniversary, Northwest Fuchsia Society presents Forever Fuchsias at Lakewold Gardens. Open to the public from 10am to 4pm this coming September 6th and 7th, visitors can enjoy fuchsia displays by 7 different clubs. Along with these colorful exhibits society members will be on hand to answer questions. Event highlights include:

• Robinwood Nursery will have fuchsias available for sale, along with plant specials in Lakewold’s Garden Shop.

• A descendent of the historic Grandma Mac Fuchsia – here when Washington became a territory in 1853 – will be on display.

• Chuck Canham of Cascade Mineral Products will discuss the positive effects of soil remineralization and introduce a great gardening product, in a presentation at 1pm on Saturday.

• Frankie Dennison will discuss species fuchsias in a presentation at 1pm on Sunday.

• Society members will present their own mini-garden and novelty fuchsia displays.

As Lakewold heads into autumn, this final burst of color display is a great opportunity to enjoy the gardens and learn about the history of fuchsias. Stephanie Walsh, Executive Director remarks: “We are pleased to be partnering with clubs from around the Puget Sound Area. In developing this event, I’ve learned so much about these beautiful plants, often taking me back to the days of my grandmother’s enormous fuchsia baskets soaking up the morning sun in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. I know our visitors will enjoy the exhibit!”

Join us on September 6th and 7th from 10am – 4pm at 12317 Gravelly Lake Drive SW, Lakewood, WA. No reservation needed for any of the activities. Admission to the gardens and the fuchsia show is $9.00 general, $6.00 military, seniors, and students. Members of Lakewold and children 12 and under are free.
